MarsEdit 3 also adds support for WordPress pages & custom fields and a new media browser that supports iPhoto, Aperture, and Lightroom. Customers who purchased MarsEdit on or after Januare entitled to a free upgrade. Until now, MarsEdit only supported HTML editing, but version 3 also adds a new Rich Text editor. Existing MarsEdit customers may upgrade to MarsEdit 3 for $14.95 (US). A family pack license, good for up to 5 people in a private household, is $59.95 (US). MarsEdit 3 is available today for $39.95 (US). Dozens of other systems also work with MarsEdit through its support of the standard MetaWeblog and AtomPub publishing interfaces. MarsEdit supports a wide range of the most popular blog-hosting services, with custom-tuned support for WordPress, Blogger, Tumblr, Squarespace, Movable Type, and TypePad. "We tried to focus on a mix of features that increase the appeal for less technical users, while strengthening the core functionality that our long-time customers rely upon." The nice side-effect of this is that I can cut and paste code from Xcode directly into MarsEdit and it retains all of the formatting and syntax highlighting from Xcode. Even better the formatting is preserved when posting to Squarespace. New in MarsEdit 3.0 is the possibility to create posts using a rich text format. These can be configured so that custom text fields appear in the post editor alongside standard fields such as Title and Tags. For WordPress blogs, MarsEdit 3 features support for Pages and Custom Fields.
